Obligatory first Reddit post warning.
Just for some backstory, this happened in hospital when I was around 6 or 7, so details are a bit fuzzy. I was in hospital with sever asthma problems, and this was like my third day in hospital, right, let's get on with it.
So I was in the children's ward at a hospital, the room had 4 beds, only two were taken, there are also 2 other separate rooms, which I think were both empty, so it was around 6PM and me, being quite a fussy picky eater, had barely anything for dinner, and what I did eat I barley picked at, hospital slop, wasn't fun. I can't say for certain, but I think the other kid, who I can't remember why he was in hospital, he looked a couple years younger than me though. (I know he was a boy because he had a blue wristband that singled the gender) was in the same boat, I think that's why his father, who was there overnight, decided to get him some macca's (Australian for McDonalds) but before he left he turned to me and offered to get me some, me being young, sick, and hungry, obviously accepted, he was gone for like 15 minutes, when he got back, he gave both me and his son a happy meal, which really made sick young me happy. As a way of trying to say thank you, I gave the boy a colouring in book the hospital gave me to do, as well as the coloured textas and pencils.
I was discharged 2 days later, before he was, but when I got home, as I got discharged the Thursday before the Easter long weekend, I got home to a massive Easter basket, a family friend put my name in a draw, and I won the 15th placed prize (musta been a pretty big draw to have 15 or more prizes) a small part of me wishes that the other kid's parent had put my name in the draw, but turns out it was someone who knew me from birth, and she did this to all the kids she knew and liked, those two little things made a really hard week a bit easier and happier for me in all honesty.
